Let's face it, bowling alleys can be pretty scummy at times. I'd much rather be playing the sport outside on a tropical island while enjoying a smooth cocktail, instead of occupying a lane in my dingy local bowling club swilling foul beer.
Get Your Island On Bowling is a mobile game from the makers of Malibu that lets you bowl on a desert island. You can choose to bowl with either a coconut or a melon, and get to pick from five different scenarios to play in.
The controls in Get Your Island On Bowling are pretty straightforward. There are three separate gages, for direction, effect and power. You need to activate these in sequence, stopping the meter when it gets to the desired place on the gage. The meters move pretty fast, so it requires some skill to time it right, but this adds to the challenge of the game.
In terms of its graphics, Get Your Island On Bowling isn't anything special. The backgrounds are colorful and bright but the cut-outs of the game elements (i.e. the balls and the bottles) are fairly crude. I also felt the animation was a little slow and jerky.
You can choose to play Get Your Island On Bowling in one or two-player mode, and the high scores table keeps you coming back for more.
It's not the greatest mobile bowling game ever, but Get Your Island On Bowling makes for a fun timewaster on a rainy day.
